Introduction to Mechatronics
MEC 101 provides a comprehensive introduction to the core components and methodologies used in modern mechatronic systems. Emphasizing a systems-level perspective, the course covers fundamental concepts related to mechanical elements, electrical circuits, and the integration of microcontrollers for intelligent control. Students will explore the operation and selection of various sensors for data acquisition, different types of actuators for motion and force generation, and the logic behind control algorithms. Significant attention is given to understanding system safety protocols and best practices in mechatronic design and implementation. Through a blend of theoretical instruction and practical laboratory exercises, students will develop essential skills for troubleshooting, maintaining, and contributing to the development of automated systems in diverse industrial and commercial applications.
